Are you a bird watcher? Last weekend, my father gave me a gorgeous wooden bird feeder. I’ve always enjoyed watching birds, I mean I drink coffee and stare at my chickens everyday. But, I haven’t had a bird feeder in years.
It took a few days for the word on the street that a ‘free buffet was available’ to spread through the local feathered community. Now, there is an ongoing bird party feast in the front yard. I’ve been documenting each type of bird. So far, there has been chickadees, purple finches, tufted titmice, cardinals, doves, carolina wrens, and doves. One of the male cardinals is completely bald, missing all of the feathers on his head. I have decided to name him ‘Larry’. Hopefully they grow back before winter.
In the garden, my tomato plants are going crazy and taking over the side of my porch. The lower leaves have started to yellow, which I’ve learned is a mineral deficiency. I was informed to feed them 1 Tbsp epsom salts to a gallon of water once a month to remedy the problem. Either way it hasn’t hindered the fruit production.
Now that August is definitely here, I’m making sure to finish my Summer Bucket List. I’ve been marking things off, but still haven’t gone fishing enough. So, in a couple weeks I’m headed to Colorado for my first fly fishing lesson! Do you have any tips you would like to share? Please send them my way!
