We are offering an intimate hands on workshop in a working studio teaching you how to shoot with speed lights, strobes, and constant lights! Learning how to modify artificial light for different scenarios, angles, and moods.

Meet Your Instructors

Jenn Davis

Jenn is an editorial | commercial food photographer, food stylist and blogger behind Two Cups Flour from Nashville, TN. She loves creating imagery that transports the viewer into the scene. When photographing food, she places an emphasis on details of lighting, mood, texture, and color. Her goal is to have the viewer connect emotionally with her photos.

Shelly Waldman

Shelly is a commercial and editorial photographer based in the San Francisco bay area. Her works spans food, product, and people. She loves being able to express her creativity through images. Her work has a approachable and friendly feel which is crafted through her lighting and composition choices.
She finds that being able to manipulate artificial light in any situation has allowed her opportunities to work on location with no fear of, “What if there is no natural light?”

Nashville Artificial Light Workshop Schedule

DAY 1 

WHEN: Saturday May 16th, 10am-5pm

WHERE: Jenn Davis Photography Studio

WHAT: Morning lecture and demonstration discussing how to manipulate light to create the shadows and highlights needed to bring an image to life. Lunch Break including catered lunch. Afternoon hands on stations using affordable speed lights and professional studio strobes. One on One coaching from both Jenn and Shelly.

DAY 2 

WHEN: Sunday May 17th, 10am-5pm

WHERE: Jenn Davis Photography Studio

WHAT: Morning lecture on problem solving and light manipulation. Lunch Break including catered lunch. Afternoon hands on stations styling and shooting food scenes using affordable speed lights, professional studio strobes and constant light. One on One coaching from both Jenn and Shelly.

Artificial Light Workshop Things To Know

Who is this workshop for? Food photographers interested in expanding their skill set using artificial light to mimic natural light photography. You must be comfortable shooting in manual mode with a dslr camera.

How many people? This is a small intimate workshop with no more than 8 people, to provide plenty of personal attention.

What should I bring to the workshop? Your dslr or mirrorless camera fitted with a hot shoe attachment. Laptop and tether equipment if you have it (not required). Something to take notes with!

What should I expect to walk away with after the workshop? New knowledge and skill sets to confidently start working with artificial light. Expand your portfolio and be able to shoot know matter the time of day or location.
